Dr. Harold L. Burstyn is an experienced lawyer with extensive practice experience in complex intellectual property rights. His practice encompasses securing, maintaining, enforcing, and defending the rights of his clients in patent, trademark, and copyright matters. Dr. Burstyn is also an adjunct professor at Syracuse University’s L. C. Smith College of Engineering & Computer Science, where he brings his knowledge of the law and science to educate engineering and computer science students.
He is admitted to practice before the courts of New York and Florida and the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
In addition to his ongoing practice of law and prior to becoming an adjunct professor at Syracuse University, Dr. Burstyn was Visiting Professor at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry; Microcomputer Coordinator and Development Associate at the School of Law, Rutgers -- The State University of New Jersey; visiting Lecturer in the Business Communications Department of the Graduate School of Management at Rutgers; official historian of the U.S. Geological Survey; Dean of Graduate Programs at The William Paterson College (now University) of New Jersey; Assistant and Associate Professor of History at Carnegie-Mellon University; U.S. National Science Foundation pre- and post-doctoral fellow; instructor in the history of science at Brandeis University; technical writer and computer programmer for the EDP Division of Honeywell, Inc.; and Midshipman, Ensign, and Lieutenant (j. g.) in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve.
He has authored numerous articles and reviews on technology, patent, trademark, and copyright law, and the history of science and technology.
