STEPHANIE FURGANG ADWAR is a founding partner of Furgang & Adwar,
L.L.P. She concentrates her practice in entertainment,
trademark, and copyright law. She is a graduate (Juris
Doctor) of Yeshiva University, Benjamin N. Cardozo School
of Law (January, 1991). She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts
degree (1987) in Film and Television Production from
New York University - Tisch School of Arts, Maurice Kanbar
Institute of Film and Television.
Ms. Adwar began her career in entertainment by working
for The Gersh Agency, N.Y., Inc., for DeLaurentiis Entertainment,
and for CBS/Fox Video in New York. She went on to produce
music videos for Time Shift Video in New York. Ms. Adwar
represents a wide variety of clients in the entertainment
field, including independent film productions, screenwriters,
producers, actors, comedians, authors, performing artists,
musicians, independent record labels, music publishing
companies, and television production companies.
Ms. Adwar is admitted to practice before the Courts of
the State of New York (1991),the United States District
Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New
York (1993), and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals
(2001). She has been admitted pro hac vice (for a particular
case) in the Federal District Court of California. Reported

Ms. Adwar lectures on entertainment law at New York University
- Tisch School of Arts, Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film
and Television and on entertainment, copyright and trademark
law at The Learning Annex. She has also lectured at the
92nd Street Y, for the American Bar Association - Forum
on Entertainment and Sports Law, at CMJ, at Diversafest
Music Festival and elsewhere. Ms. Adwar has been quoted
in the news media as an expert in entertainment, copyright
and trademark law. She has also judged NYU's Mobil Awards
for excellence in film production and acts a moot court
judge for Cardozo Law School in the BMI Moot Court Competition.
She authored "Trademarks: What's In a Name," Hemp World,
Winter 1996, Vol. 2 Issue 3 and has been quoted in numerous
publications on the subject of copyright and entertainment
law.
Ms. Adwar has served as a Governing Board Member of the American
Bar Association - Forum on Entertainment and Sports Law as its
Sponsorship Chair and then as its Membership Chair. She is also a
member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the
International Trademark Association, the New York State Bar Association
(member Entertainment and Sports Law Committee and Intellectual
Property section), and the Rockland County Bar Association. Ms. Adwar
is a member of the prestigious New York Women in Film and Television,
is a member of The Recording Academy, serves on the Board of Directors
for The Colleagues Theatre Company, a not-for-profit theater group, is
a member of the American Film Institute and served on the Benefit Committee
of the Newport International Film Festival.
Ms. Adwar has received an "AV" peer review rating from
Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory (the highest rating)
and is listed in the Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register
of Preeminent Lawyers.
